Case study

Hospital Havirov

This project was selected as a finalist in the Government & Public Sector category at the Innovation Project Awards 2026.

“One of the biggest benefits is that navigation simply works. New employees use it during onboarding, visitors find their destination on their own, and our staff spend less time giving directions. When someone asks me where to go, I no longer have to explain the route myself. I simply send them a link, and the navigation takes care of the rest.”  — Norbert Schellong, Director of Hospital Havířov

The Challenge

Navigating a large hospital complex can be overwhelming. Havířov Hospital, with its extensive multi-building campus and a seven-floor monoblock, faced persistent issues with patient and visitor orientation.

The hospital’s leadership sought an intuitive solution to simplify navigation, reduce stress, and improve overall efficiency, all without requiring users to download an app.

“What started as an idea quickly became a practical solution. It’s simple to deploy, intuitive to use, and delivers real value for both patients and hospital staff.” — Norbert Schellong, Director of Hospital Havířov

About Hospital Havirov

Havířov Hospital is a key healthcare provider in the Moravian-Silesian Region, serving thousands of patients annually. With numerous specialized departments, including surgery, pediatrics, and radiology, seamless navigation is crucial for both medical staff and visitors.

Our Resolution

CUE Navigation delivered the ideal solution. The cloud-based system eliminates the need for app downloads—patients and visitors simply scan a QR code to access a web-based tool. From there, they receive step-by-step navigation through intuitive, detailed maps that cover the hospital grounds and individual buildings.

Strategically placed 3D-printed QR codes enhance reliability and security, preventing tampering and ensuring precise positioning.

Additionally, the hospital gains valuable, anonymous analytics on movement patterns, helping refine facility management, streamline operations, and improve overall efficiency.

The system ensures smooth movement between key locations such as emergency rooms, pharmacies, and cafeterias, while also offering barrier-free routes for individuals with reduced mobility.

With over 100 navigation points across key departments (including surgery, pediatrics, radiology, and intensive care) the system optimizes hospital logistics, reducing delays and improving both patient flow and staff coordination.

“We see this as an investment in the future. As more patients become comfortable using digital tools, solutions like this will become a natural part of the hospital experience.” — Norbert Schellong, Director of Hospital Havířov
